The South Australian Jujube Growers’ Association Inc. was established in April 2019 and is a small but active group of nurseries, growers and processors.
The industry has been very active over the past year with members participating in a number of meetings and farm visits.
Jujube fruit, also known as red or Chinese date, are native to Southern Asia but has become popular around the world. These small round fruits with a seed-containing pit grow on large flowering shrubs or trees (Ziziphus jujuba). When ripe, they’re dark red or purple and may appear slightly wrinkled.
